I have been painting professionally on a full time basis since 2000. After obtaining a B Arts and Dip Ed I began a Diploma of Fine Art and attended The Macquarie Art School. Subsequently, I studied with a number of highly acclaimed and internationally renowned artists with specialties in watercolour, oils and pastels.
Associate and exhibiting member of of the Royal Art Society of NSW. Locally I belong to the Society of Artists Newcastle, Portrait Painters Hunter, Arts Upper Hunter and Community Arts Port Stephens.
During the course of my career I have participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in both galleries and art prizes including the Orange Regional Gallery, The Hunter Botanic Gardens, the National Portrait of Australia Exhibition and “Peoplescape (portrait) Exhibition” at Parliament House Canberra.
Multi-award winning in a variety of media (see awards) including watercolour, oils, photography and mixed media. I won the Port Stephens Toyota Art Prize in 2014, 2012 and 2011. I gained 3rd place and was a finalist in 2 "National Art Challenges" of The Australian Artist Magazine. In 2014, I was included in the US/Europe Gallery and Museum guide "International Contemporary Artist" and was selected as one of 3 artists from 300 to feature in the publication. Other publications include articles in Australian Artist Magazine, Hunter Lifestyle Magazine, Newcastle Calendar Collection 2011 and numerous newspaper articles.
Essentially my style is impressionist leaning towards a realistic identifiable representation. Subject matter is broad and includes landscape, seascape and more recently portraits and still life. With an Education background, (working as a teacher and education consultant), I have naturally fallen into the role of art tutor in Adult Education Classes, in Art Societies and in private groups, and this is a role I enjoy.
My works are represented in private, corporate and civic collections in Australian and in private collections in Japan, US, Canada, Saudi Arabia, China and England.
